POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Digital Fundraising Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting digital fundraising operations for both WETA and PBS News at the flagship public media station in our nation’s capital. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can balance creative and technical responsibilities while managing multiple projects across two distinct programs. Reports to Director of Digital Fundraising.
Working collaboratively with the WETA Digital Fundraising Manager, PBS News Digital Fundraising Manager, Director of Digital Fundraising, and the PBS News digital team, the Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day support of digital fundraising initiatives, including support for email and digital advertising campaign configuration, donation form optimization, landing page management, data coordination and campaign performance reporting. The role demands strong organizational skills, technical proficiency with digital fundraising platforms, and the ability to maintain multiple communications calendars while ensuring campaigns are deployed accurately and on schedule.
The ideal candidate will bring creative skills in graphic design and/or copywriting, as well as technical capabilities in email marketing platforms and web experimentation tools. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact fundraising results through hands-on campaign implementation, conversion rate optimization testing, and data-driven segmentation strategies. The position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage competing priorities across two programs, and is committed to best practices in digital fundraising and data management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
WETA Digital Fundraising (50%)
- Assist in the implementation of WETA digital fundraising initiatives including copywriting, graphic design, proofreading, configuring, testing and deploying email communications and digital advertising campaigns; link management and redirects; and web experimentation set-up in AB Tasty.
- Maintain WETA digital communications calendar and testing plan, build project timelines, and collaborate with the Digital Fundraising Manager and the Director of Digital Fundraising to execute corresponding fundraising efforts.
- Manage backend digital fundraising processes for WETA, including data and source code requests and implementation in collaboration with the Data Strategy and Development Services ream, landing page updates, and premium fulfillment in collaboration with the Multi-media Fundraising team.
- Work with the Digital Fundraising Manager and the Digital Ads and Community Manager to implement tests, aimed to increase WETA revenue, conversion rates, percentage of monthly donors, retention rate, and ROAS, along with other digital fundraising opportunities. Coordinate implementation with other internal and external partners as needed.
- Work with the Digital Fundraising Manager and the Digital Ads and Community Manager to report on fundraising and marketing strategies across WETA email, web, digital advertising and multichannel campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Data Strategy and Development Services team on the annual Fiscal Year turnover to update WETA fiscal year source codes and donation pages.
PBS News Digital Fundraising (50%)
- Assist PBS News Digital Fundraising Manager in the implementation of PBS News digital fundraising initiatives including copywriting, graphic design, proofreading, configuring, testing and deploying email communications, to acquire, renew, retain and upgrade PBS News supporters.
- Assist PBS News Digital Fundraising Manager and PBS News digital team with email hygiene, segmentation and suppression management for the PBS News Mailchimp account.
- Maintain PBS News digital fundraising communications calendar, build project timelines, and collaborate with PBS News Digital Fundraising Manager and PBS News digital team to execute corresponding fundraising efforts.
- Manage backend digital fundraising processes for PBS News, including data and source code requests and implementation in collaboration with the Data Strategy and Development Services ream, donation form updates and member benefit fulfillment, in collaboration with PBS News digital team.
- Work with PBS News Digital Fundraising Manager to plan out, implement, and report on testing and segmentation strategies across PBS News email, web and multichannel campaigns.
- Work with the PBS News Digital Fundraising Manager and PBS News digital team to implement tests to increase donation form and email conversion rates, along with other digital fundraising opportunities. Coordinate implementation with other partners as needed.
- Collaborate with Data Strategy and Development Services team on the annual Fiscal Year turnover to update PBS News fiscal year source codes and donation pages.
Shared Responsibilities for Both Programs
- Assist with coordination and scheduling of various strategy, planning, and debrief meetings.
- Coordinate and schedule training sessions for digital platforms such as Engaging Networks, Simple Donate and Bl.ink, keeping documentation up to date with current best practices.
- Manage shared digital platform access and credentials (i.e. Canva, Nifty Images, etc)
- Maintain email list hygiene across both programs and stay abreast of best data management practices.
- Provide data for external partners and internal resources, as necessary.
- Assist Data Strategy and Development Services team with managing and compiling data for annual benchmarks reporting.
- Perform related technical and other special projects or duties as assigned.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in digital marketing, project management, fundraising, or related field.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and persuasive marketing and fundraising copy.
- Proficiency in graphic design, with the ability to create eye-catching, relevant email headers, web graphics, and other image assets.
- Technical capabilities with email marketing platforms like Engaging Networks and Mailchimp
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Passion for public media and independent journalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management or related field.
LOCATION:
WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA.
